چکیده

The need to decarbonize the shipping sector is leading a growing interest in fuel cell-based propulsion systems. While Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFC) represent one of most promising and mature technologies for onboard implementation, they are still prone remarkable degradation. same problem also affecting Lithium-ion batteries (LIB), which usually coupled with PEMFC hybrid powertrains. By including combined degradation effects an optimization strategy, best compromise between costs PEMFC/LIB lifetime could be determined. However, this challenging yet crucial aspect, rarely addressed literature explored. To fill gap, health-conscious here proposed long-term minimization Results show that holistic multi-objective allows 185% increase respect fuel-consumption-minimization-only approach. With progressive ageing PEMFC/LIB, system modifies energy management strategy limit daily operation cost. Comparing results at beginning end plant lifetime, increased by 73% hydrogen consumption 29%. methodology believed useful tool, able give insights into effective involved new type system.

Model identification and dynamic analysis of ship propulsion shaft lines

Dynamic response analysis of mechanical structures is usually performed by adopting numerical/analytical models. Finite element (FE) modeling as a numerical approach plays an important role in dynamic response analysis of complex structures. The calculated dynamic responses from FE analysis are only reliable if accurate FE models are used. There are many elements in real mechanical structures w...

Modeling of Ship Propulsion Performance

Full scale measurements of the propulsion power, ship speed, wind speed and direction, sea and air temperature, from four different loading conditions has been used to train a neural network for prediction of propulsion power. The network was able to predict the propulsion power with accuracy between 0.8-2.8%, which is about the same accuracy as for the measurements. The methods developed are i...

Power and Performance Optimization in Long-term Operation

The work developed consists in a power or performance optimization methodology, for long-term operation, using global and local aging aware performance sensors. Methodology allows circuits to be dynamically optimized, during their life-time, according with one of two possible needs: (1) restrict power consumption, by reducing power-supply voltage to the minimum value that prevents errors from h...

Propeller Design and Propulsion Concepts for Ship Operation in Off- Design Conditions

Ship operators are calling more often for reduced fuel consumption and economic ship operation also in offdesign. The versatile operation profile of ship types such as RoRo-vessels are then a challenge for the design of the propeller and for the propulsion concept. This paper presents aspects on the propeller design and propulsion concept of a ship as well as design methods for the propeller. L...

Power Accounting for Ship Electric Propulsion

Coarse and accurate power accounting methods for ship electric propulsion are observed and compared. For the purpose of analysis, the propulsion system has been separated into two units, namely the ship load and the motor drive. In the load model, variation of such factors like static and dynamic hull resistance and efficiency is explored while the supply characteristics, drive loading, propell...
